Anthony R. Stefan Scholarship Competition:

The Anthony R. Stefan Scholarship Competition is sponsored by the League of the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and is open to students in grades nine through twelve who show excellence in the performance of an orchestral instrument (excluding piano) and who reside in the area served by the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra. Preliminary and final auditions are held in Schenectady in March and/or April.

Louise DeFeo Parillo Piano Competition:

This competition honors the memory of Louise DeFeo Parillo, a locally prominent pianist who had her own radio show in the 1930s and ‘40s on WGY and was very active in area music groups. The prizes are dedicated to the encouragement of young pianists in order that they may have a life-long enjoyment of music as accomplished professionals or dedicated amateurs, thus reflecting the piano career of Louise DeFeo Parillo herself.

The competition is open to all students from the greater Capital District area, ages 13 through the senior high school year. The first prize winner will be awarded $500 and the second, $100.
