Schenectady Symphony announces May Concert Cancellation

The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra Concert originally scheduled for Sunday, May 17th at Proctors Theater in Schenectady has been cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation. In addition, Proctors had previously announced that they would remain closed for the month of May. We hope to reschedule this performance for sometime in the future. Patrons with tickets will be contacted by Proctors box office staff and will be given three options – a refund, a credit to be applied to a future performance, or using the value of their tickets as a donation to the Symphony. We hope that you will seriously consider donating the value of your ticket to the Orchestra so that we can continue our preparations for next season.

We hope to perform for you next on Saturday, August 8th at 7 PM at Music Haven in Central Park. This will be a free summer pops concert and will feature guest artist Mia Scirocco. We normally would have announced the 2020-2021 season at the May concert. Those plans are being finalized. Please watch your email, our Facebook page and our website (www.schenectadysymphony.org) in early June for details. We’ll feature music from Brahms, Beethoven, Copeland, Stravinsky, Ravel and Corigliano. We’ll also perform our first Concert Opera in many years and will feature “Bach the Hero, Bach the Legend” with guest pianist John Musto. And, to help you kick off the holiday season, our first ever “Poinsettia Pops” in November.

Please be safe and well and we look forward to making music for you again soon.
