Single Tickets On Sale Tomorrow

Welcome to our 81st season during which we will host a quartet of the best soloists from past student competitions: young musicians who have gone on to distinguish themselves in the world of classical music. Soloists Madalyn and Cicely Parnas and Ryan Reilly return for their third performances with the SSO since winning our youth competitions nearly a decade ago, while Christopher Reynolds appears for his first time this season. Join us as we venture forward watching and listening while our “rising stars” return, joining our hometown orchestra in interpreting the timeless works of Brahms, Mendelssohn, Grieg, Handel, and Bach.

We will waltz into the season, opening in November with our ‘Music from Vienna’ concert. Ryan Reilly, fresh from Julliard and an SSO favorite, returns as a featured soloist performing Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2 in an afternoon program with Strauss and Beethoven. In January a “Festival of Strings’ highlights solo and duet performances by sisters Madalyn and Cicely Parnas. Our March concert returns to our serenade format in the GE Theatre. This intimate performance will feature four exceptional soloists from the SSO family of musicians for an outstanding afternoon of ‘Mostly Baroque’. This concert includes a spectacular interpretation of Leopold Mozart’s Toy Symphony. You don’t want to miss this one, and you never know who you might see in this performance! Our 81st season concludes with an afternoon of ‘Grieg and Beethoven’; presenting two treasured selections from Edvard Grieg and closing the concert and the season, waltzing back to Vienna with Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, A major, Op. 92., featuring soloist Christopher Reynolds.

Subscription tickets on sale now; single tickets go on sale Wednesday, September 3.

We trust you will enjoy our ‘Old Masters, Rising Stars’ program this season, and will continue with us on our journey; expanding our musical horizons in Schenectady and the Capital District.  You won’t want to miss a single concert next season!
